about

In times when the once wonderful meaning of the music album tends towards zero, it is a relief to find a record that is not just a collection of songs around one or two attention-seeking "hits". These can take some time to make, though.

In the case of THE MOYEN AGE one can already speak of years. Even before the project took shape, some of these songs were written - often without any special reference to a possible use.

After the hybrid masterpiece "At Home We Are Tourists" (2005) by his pop duo Guilty Feet, Dirk Simmig concentrated mainly on his work as a studio operator and producer, and so songs or drafts ended up in the rough.

On the other side , after the album "Magic Friends" by Künnecke & Smukal from 2005 and his solo album the following year (as Mr.Spinalzo) were widely ignored, Andi preferred to leave his songs in the intimacy of his flat for a while.
At some point the two realized that some of these songs seemed destined for a concept album on the topic of a lost sense of being. Timeless.

And so a series of songs crystallized more and more, taking us on a journey of an autobiographical as well as fictional character: from the nervous exodus to the island, through various self-knowledge and dream images, to a kind of arrangement with reality; not disillusioned, but perhaps grown enough to bear the demands of our time and our own shortcomings.

The songs and arrangements casually take this process into account - between orchestral and intimate, experimental intermezzi, soulful pop and folk elements we can dive deeply into the landscape of human emotions and human psyche.
